well, it's done...submitted my icon for je_battle just now. I have a bad feeling about this orz... mine this week wasn't as good as I think I could've done. damn feathers. maybe I should've used a skip, but I'm still 6th out of 11, and if the last place three gain points then I'm gone. but if I fuck up this week then I'm gone too...fuck D: the comeback round was last week, so...askl;gkla;gkaga; FRANTIC I STILL HAVE TIME TO WITHDRAW MY ENTRY SO SHOULD I. no time to make something else though, plus it's not like I have many photos of johnny's in...feathers, I don't really like collecting live shop photos. I actually have four working versions of this icon, I kid you not--I'm still not completely satisfied.

To whoever organized the Ueda contest at kattun_graphics, couldn't you have at least randomized the entries? my three are all in a row and it's really obvious I made them all too ;____;

Overall, so far I think Jin's theme has had the nicest icons. /nod He takes really nice photos though--I mean, sometimes he does look like a total retard but his photos are...easy? fun? to icon.

the sad thing about contests like these is that you see a lot of gorgeous icons that are also a little plain--like, they have faded colouring, not much flashy effects, etc. (like the one by anohi I'm using for this post :D) They're absolutely gorgeous anyways (numetto's done some really nice ones too) but because they're not as flashy, they don't stand out nearly as much and you tend to skip over them if the contest's large enough (the Jin theme had, like, 64 entries?!)

Alright, back to Ciel! Got all the pattern pieces except for waistband and that skirt thing. :3 I'm gonna have to go shoe shopping later, to look for boots.

goddamnit...it's gonna be the details that get me with Ciel and Naoto, I tell you. ;~;

Sometimes I think that the simpler an icon is, the prettier it gets. It's easier on the eyes and if it conveys its subject in a good way, it's all okay, right? ^-^

Louder things tend to draw the eye, but in the end, it's the soft things that linger, right?

it's just a shame that the calmer ones get overshadowed in huge contests. D: for example, in this one (http://community.livejournal.com/kattun_graphics/67246.html), numbers 1, 4, 5, 31, 61, 62 and possibly even 49 (this one caught my eye immediately, but in relations to the others it's rather plain-ish) are all absolutely gorgeous imo, but likely to be skipped over in voting in favour of ones like 17, 24, 43 or 52. They're all really good, but in such a massive overload like that, the calmer ones get...kind of lost. D:

Well, humans are naturally drawn to things that are louder and warmer, so the eye tends to wander in that direction. Which is such a shame, because some of the most beautiful things tend to be muted in their personality.
It's a thing to be seen from every aspect of nature, right? The more brightly colored birds were valued for their plumage, the louder, larger flowers were prized for their blossoms, and a person who disrupts a class is more likely to be noticed than someone who never speaks, right?

Ah, such is the discourse of nature.
(I should ask why this is if I take that psych course over the summer.)
